Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children that would be raised with them eventually. She learned young how to overcome of her difficulties with her incredibly vivid imagination. Even before learning to write or read, she composed her own music. Once she had her first instrument at age of eight, she started to perform at radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. The following year, she made her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. While she was in school, she had already established herself on the local scene. But her dream was to be able to play on a larger level. The year 1964 was the day following her graduation from high-school the singer moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time, was in search for a female singer for his show. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. The band split in 1974 after her own songs such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene outsold the collaborations. Parton's song, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), was able to reach the top of the. #1 spot following their separated. For the first time, in 1974.
