Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Born in Winnipeg and brought up in Wellington Paquin has made her acting debut playing Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11, making the actress second at the age of 11 in Oscar history. Paquin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and relocated into New Zealand as a young child. When she answered an open invitation to auditions, she won the role as Flora McGrath, the daughter of a deaf Scottish pianist who moves from Scotland to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to be married. It was her first role at the age of nine, and she had no previous experience as an actor. In her teens, Paquin moved to America. Paquin was cast as the title child in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. Also, she was a leading role for the role of the Queen in Fly Away Home, a movie from that same year. Paquin was a part-time actress in the 1997 TV movie adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad her character was the Spanish queen with a small part. She played teenagers as part of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed her polexia Aphrodisa the groupie of Almost Famous (2000).
